Jürgen Klopp will face Unai Emery again when Liverpool travel to Villa Park to face Aston Villa on Boxing Day.
The two managers faced off in last season’s Champions League semi-finals, when Emery took charge of Villarreal and Klopp emerged as the winner.
Liverpool head to the Midlands looking for three points, but a poor start to the season saw them finish sixth.
The Reds returned to domestic competition after Thursday’s 2022 World Cup after a narrow 3-2 loss to rivals Manchester City in the Carabao Cup.
Despite the defeat and poor defense, there were some good signs as Klopp and his team opened up many chances for Darwin Nunez.
With Virgil van Dijk and presumably Trent Alexander-Arnold back from illness, Klopp’s side should be more defensively determined, but with Roberto Firmino, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz out through injury, it’s no surprise. Liverpool will need to find the Uruguayan’s goalscoring form. .

Villa Park is not a place where you can easily score three points when the crowd is pumping and it is very important to silence the local fans for the first 15 minutes.
It’s likely to be a close game, but if Liverpool can get ahead, they should have enough points despite their absence to regain three points for Anfield, who face Leicester City on Friday.
