El Paso, TX (KTSM) – Darius Brown, assistant football coach at Bel-Air High School, is happy to give back to his community during the holiday season.
“I feel like I’m doing this because I really wanted to make an impact in our community,” Brown said. I think it’s an easy way to let them know that we’re here for them and that everyone wants to spread the word about Christmas.”
Coach Brown’s Holiday Toy Drive is what he’s been doing for the past three years.
“It really started in a one-bedroom apartment. During COVID, I told my wife that I really wanted to make an impact in our community. And toy drives were the easiest way to get started.” “Now it’s more inflated and I couldn’t be more excited.”
Coach Brown’s Holiday Toy Drive stops at many local organizations to give back to young people. This year, Brown added a goal to give back to animals as well.
“Some of the places we’ve been to consistently are like Dame La Mano. Yes, so I try to visit as many places as I can where I feel the community needs a little more service,” Brown said.
“I’m going to El Paso Animal Services this year,” Brown said. “We welcomed new puppies into the family. We know they are overrun with cats and dogs and everything else in between, so these are the ones that can get our help.” I’m trying to pay more attention to type groups.
Brown is a social studies teacher, football assistant coach, and freshman girls’ basketball coach at Bel Air High School.
