After the players left the field due to bad light and rain, commentators laughed about the bizarre scene when Labuchaneu appeared to ask for a cigarette on the field.

Earlier in the day, the eccentric batter signaled with two fingers up to his mouth after brushing the brim of his helmet.

Much to the confusion of many, the twelfth man pulled out a lighter and the Queenslander burned something from his visor.

“No, he’s not asking for cigarettes, he’s asking for lighters,” said Isha Guha.

Kelly O’Keeffe replied:

“This was the most noticeable signal of any non-smoker cigarette lighter I’ve seen in world cricket competition.”

Mike Hussey added: what does he want what is he signaling for? does he want a cigarette? “

Hussey explained that a frayed piece of the helmet must have gotten into his eyeline.

Labuchaneu is known for his hilarious actions on the field. He is regularly used to talk close to hitters in close range defensive positions.

He is also known for his loud calls that disjoint some people’s noses.

However, he was also a selfless player, sacrificing himself for David Warner in Melbourne to finish first in the ICC Test batting rankings.

Marnus — No change.
