Michigan State Football just signed 15 players from the 2023 class last week, but the Spartans are already working hard to secure another talented recruit class for 2024.
2024 4-Star Murfreesboro, Tenn. Riverdale High School cornerback Jalen Thompson said Tuesday while attending the Supermax 100 Midwest Invitational football camp in Detroit. Michigan gave verbal pledges.
Thompson chose the Spartans out of 16 NCAA divisions. I offer scholarships. The 6-foot, 173-pounder made it to the Final 5 in Michigan, Nebraska, Kentucky, Auburn and Michigan, with Tennessee also heavily involved in the recruitment.
Thompson is ranked 258th overall, 23rd in cornerbacks and 4th in Tennessee in the 2024 class according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Michigan Deputy Coach Harlon Burnett was his MSU main recruiter in this fight.

Spartans are off to a strong start in their 2024 hiring cycle, with three 4-star prospects currently committed in their class. His receiver, Nick Marsh, wide at four-star River Rouge (Michigan) High School in July of this year, became his MSU first commit in the ’24 class. That was followed in September by four-star Westland Hialeah (Florida) High School cornerback Jamali Howard.
Prior to Thompson’s appointment, Michigan State’s class of 2024 ranked 16th in the nation and 4th in the Big Ten.
