Asia Cricket Council President Jay Shah announced on Thursday that India and Pakistan will face off again after the two teams have been placed in the same group for the Asia Cup 2023 to be held in September 2023. Following India and Pakistan, defending champions Sri Lanka join him in one group, followed by Bangladesh, Afghanistan and a qualifying team in another. The Asian Cup 2023 will be played in a 50-over format as part of the build-up for the World Cup.
All 13 games excluding qualifying. This includes 6 league games, 6 super 4 games, with the top 2 teams qualifying for the final. However, it remains to be seen which country will host the tournament after the ACC promised to appeal to the ICC to exclude the tournament from the original host country, Pakistan.
“We present the @ACCMedia1 route structure and the cricket calendars for 2023 and 2024! We are gearing up for the performance and I promise it will be a good time for cricket,” Shah tweeted.
