For the second season in a row, Notre Dame Fighting Irish has dipped into the transfer portal and landed an Ivy League punter. Ben Krim.
The Columbus, Ohio native was the Penn’s first punter last season. As a senior, Krim led the Ivy his league with a 41.6 punt average and topped the conference with his 11 boots for at least 50 yards. Crim completed his 11th punt of 50 yards or more in his 44th punt. That means he made his 50-plus-yard punts one less overall and he made one more. John Sot Had by the Irish in 2022.
Crim earned first-team All-Ivy League honors for his efforts with the Quakers last season. He finished 25th nationally in average yards per punt.
The 6-2, 205-pound Crim was a two-time Allstate punter playing in Upper Arlington, Ohio. his uncle, John CrimHe played at the University of Notre Dame from 1978 to 1981 and was a third-round draft pick by the New Orleans Saints in 1982.
Crim will be a Notre Dame walk-on in 2023, just like Sotto was a year ago. He has two seasons left in his eligibility.
