For anyone following high school football in Palmetto State, quarterback Llanolis Sellers needs no introduction. Produced by South his Florence, he scored his 67 touchdowns in his senior year, achieving a state title and numerous records.
Although he was committed to Syracuse for many years, Sellers opted to sign early in a national deal with South Carolina. He received his offer on October 22nd.
However, the coaching staff delivered a strong closing push and flipped him over. This was one of the Cycle’s biggest hiring wins as they established themselves as the premier school for talent in South Carolina.
Offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains played a role in Sellers’ decision. Loggains took the job on his December 12th and immediately made an impression on the hiring scene.
According to sources, Loggains intends to put the ball into the hands of the quarterback. It may not be an immediate seller, but he may eventually take reign and become the first long-term starter in the Loggains era.
The players and coaches are talented and respected in their circles. However, the two can mesh well and be successful. Good things tend to happen when quarterbacks and playcallers are aligned.
Arkansas has adopted many quarterback run game elements on offense. Loggains was tight he didn’t call plays as an end coach, but every game he played a role in planning.
The seller has a stocky frame of 6-2.5 and 217 pounds. Athletic enough to take on SEC defenders. He may not be able to get away from his back defensively, but Loggains can at least take advantage of the seller’s leg to extend play and find receivers downfield.
Additionally, Sellers have pinpoint accuracy that allows Loggains to utilize the entire field vertically and horizontally. To do. He can throw anywhere on the field.
The pairing also knows football well. Loggains says he’s had nearly a decade of NFL play-calling experience, and few people can say that. Meanwhile, high school senior Sellers had to operate the entire attack with a full-field read.
He already knows how to play the quick game, how to progress and how to run RPOs. The seller is always in complete control, never seems rushed, and always appears calm and confident.
It may be a while before the pair show off their collaboration on the field, but spring practice should bode well for what’s to come. The install period is important for getting a feel for the program and each other, but based on what we know, early projections look positive.
